Oddly enough, Orwell hated communism and wrote 1984 in opposition to the Soviet Union, and people still don't understand authoritarianism or economic systems. Democratic governments ban books, censor, double-speak, surveil, divide, oppress, and control the masses, but when China and Russia do it, they are evil.
