Wow. Great assessment.

I studied capitalism, not economics, and realized my education was severely flawed and conservative. We may briefly discuss socialism and communism, but they are watered-down versions if they're even mentioned. There's profit but no social or science other than math to determine growth margins.

It's laughable that supply and demand determine equilibrium when uninterrupted - as if we live in perfect harmony and natural forces are nonexistent.

Society didn't demand toxic chemicals, environmental degradation, homelessness, unaffordable basic needs, and unliveable wages, yet businesses and governments supplied them.

We don't decide the means of production and depend on capitalists to offer us labor, which they outsource and restrict. How anyone still accepts (aside from the rich) this system after Governments intervened to rescue the banks that caused an economic collapse is beyond me.

We generate wealth, but the economic system controls us, and economists are magicians intent on tricking us into believing in artificial value. Janet Yellen and Jerome Powell know wages didn't cause inflation, but they don't care that we suffer because they don't answer to us.

And workers don't have bargaining power because we must work to buy survival and accept the job capitalists offer.

We need the social with the science to call it economics.
