Whenever I hear about something awful in Africa, I immediately check for France's influence in the region. The assassination of Patrice Lumumba in the Congo was among the most awful, and now, the drought is driving mass migration. Ugh.

There have been numerous anti-US imperialism and pro-China & Russia protests in the area, but I really don't know what's going on.
