Very, very well written and detailed. My experience living abroad completely altered my perspective on the US, and you perfectly captured the same experience and insights I gained.

I wish more Americans had the opportunity to travel and/or were as perceptive as you are. We're raised to believe we live in the "greatest" country yet don't know anything about other countries and if we don't know what life is like in other countries we just assume our system is better.. bizarre.
