US fleets assisted Saudi Arabia by blockading Yemen and creating a famine. Israel's war against Palestinians resonates with the Yemenis, who are protesting in mass.
The situation reminds me of the Suez Crisis. Israel invaded Egypt to support Britain and France's claim to the Canal when the Egyptian president nationalized it. Israel successfully conquered the newly liberated country, but the US flexed its post-war muscles, ordering Israel, Britain, and France to retreat.
Britain and France withdrew their claim, obeying the US' global dominance declaration and proving the importance of allies. The Suez Crisis represents the British Empire's decline and the US' rise to power.
Today's events have an uncanny resemblance. US allies (aside from the UK) don't support the Red Sea operation, and the ridiculous name isn't the sole reason. The US is weak, and no one wants another war or sole global power.
Only an American would foolishly declare a world domination objective, and I predict the Red Sea is the final blow that will send the US to the ex-empire cemetery.
