Truly, the USD won't disappear any time soon, yet every grifter is pushing crypto, gold, or some other scheme.
I don't understand the impacts of the USD's decline within the US and can't seem to find economist reports that explain the implications for the American public. It's as if no one ever thought about a world without the USD as the reserve currency.
The USD is still very strong. I'm American working in Australia, and the exchange rate broke my wallet when I visited family in California last month. Australia's economy is in the dumps, but the US seems to be in worse shape. However, it's difficult to compare the nations because Australia has more social benefits that the US, so there appears to be less financial suffering.
We're witnessing the slow transition to a new global system, and it might be a bit bumpy for a while, but it makes sense for nations to trade with a local currency. The US should have appreciated the privilege instead of abusing it - as the global south claims.
