This is capitalism - there's an economic market for wars. If there's money to be made, we'll find a way to make it. We have "gun lobby" groups and the military-industrial complex.

Do you think we should fight speculative wars? I don't, and Crimea is happier under Russia. There are ample Western reports providing this information.

After the 2014 overthrow/coup, a civil war started, and nationalists attacked the separatist regions. They have been calling for international and Russian support, and now, Russia annexed or they decided through a referendum to become a part of Russia (reports vary). https://www.osce.org/gsearch?qr=Ukraine

It seems as though Russia restrained from attacking esssential infrastructure, but after the pipeline and bridge bombings, Russia has gone full destruction mode. I don't know- that's my pespective.

Turkey brokered a peace deal between Zelenskyy and Putin in March or April, but that quickly dissolved after Boris visited Zelenskyy (according to Turkish and Ukrainian media).

I don't know what's going on, but a lot of people are dying and it's so effing awful. No war is better than winning war.
