The Taliban offered the US Bin Laden and Suddam Hussein prior to 9/11 and just after, but the US and allies wanted the resources and the pipeline. That's not to say the Taliban are a lovely bunch of people, but the US had been working with them since at least the 90s.

The problem with 9/11 is Americans didn't ask why. We have this idea we're "the good guys", but nearly every single mess in the world is caused by American interventions.

I just hope we don't focus more on Latin America now.
