The Soviets and other countries invaded to maintain communist economic policies in nations that supported communist parties, and the history is complicated.

Russia occupying the US is a Hollywood fantasy that isn't logistically feasible, and we already have militarized police and nutcases with automatic rifles wandering our streets.

Ukrainian civilians don't have a choice because a draft requires them to fight in the war, and I wonder if the people on the front line would prefer to go home than continue fighting.

Every nation's security is essential - including Russia. NATO invaded numerous countries, and Russians might not feel safe with NATO military bases along the border, but who knows? We only know what the media and politicians tell us.

We still haven't figured out that our military and government pursue resources and profits for private businesses, and wars don't liberate or protect citizens.

War and a larger military presence don't lead to peace, but we'll continue pursuing this strategy as long as someone makes money.
