The nationalist rhetoric built into our education, work, sports, and identity never portrayed reality, but we're too gutless to admit the US is a luxury car commercial, selling a facade.

Life is cruel because we normalize and accept a structure that exploits and kills us. We (Americans) had a spine once, but now, it's gone. We fight for our government's/oligarchs' enemies but never for ourselves or each other.

Australia is not as wealthy as the US, yet it offers universal healthcare and payments to carers and the disabled. It could be better, but it's a lot more than what's available in the US. Doesn't anyone wonder how countries with less wealth provide more benefits? It's a goddaman choice!

What a cruel, miserable nation.
