The middle-class (including me) tend to forget the affordability of low-income households. While I agree people want to live in a specific area and the difference of 15 minutes might be more about having the "right" zip code, the banks shouldn't have the authority to influence house prices via economic development.

Explaining this in a short paragraph is difficult, but the banks capitalize from "white flight" by hiking property prices in some neighborhoods and rent in others. Hmm... this is a bit off-topic from your statements, but it's where my mind went. Anyway, I see your point and it made me think about house prices. Cheers.
