The denial about Israel is more prevalent in the older generations than in the younger. Gen Z and millennials tend to disregard the MSM, choosing social media and independent journalism, but I don't think news sources are the main reason for the difference in ideology.

After WWII, the US worked toward the role of the dominant global power, and Israel began forming a nation for Jews. Everyone hoped these countries would produce a democratic, egalitarian, liberated civilization after enduring the inhumane horrors of the war and Holocaust. Perhaps people can't accept the outcome of their hopes, disbelieving the nations veered off course into a deadly end.

How anyone justifies bombing families is beyond me, but you saw the anger and violence reaching a boil. People want someone to blame and beat for their discontent about the state of the world, and Muslims and Russia (primarily due to the Cold War) are perfect fits, but it's only a matter of time before we turn on each other. The distractions won't last forever.
