Do you have evidence of living standards improving, and why is homelessness increasing if life is better now?

My blue-collar parents bought two homes with one income and four kids, but I started working at 14 to help pay my mom's rent when my parents divorced. We never had enough money for food, energy bills, medical, and other basic needs.
