Rudd is fighting media propaganda in parliament, and yes, the neoliberals threw him out. It's a big disgusting mess over here. The submarine deal will take 18 months of negotiations and a decade to build. I don't think it will actually happen, but the cold war has already started so who knows what we're in for.
