Or a 17-year connected marriage. It can work if you want it to work. I know this now. I make my relationship work because I want it to, but my mom didn't want it to work. As adult, I respect that, but she handled the whole thing pretty badly. I really believe parents can divorce/separate without traumatizing their children.
