Not many people in my generation and younger would give their life to the nation, but the US isn't Ukraine. We don't know the average Ukrainians position, but the OECD kept detailed reports on attacks against Eastern Ukraine, including Crimea following the Maidan Uprising.
Would our media inform us if half of Ukraine didn't support the war? The US has been providing billions of funds for Ukraine, and Europe doesn't appear to be in a position to pick up the tab if the US stops. Ukraine has IMF loans to repay and an economy in disarray. I'm unsure it can maintain the war without financial aid.
I'd want the killing to stop if my relative or friend died in a war because I can't bring people back from the dead; I can only advocate to save others.
