No, my family still live in the US, but I don't own any assets or business in the country. When Americans open Australian bank accounts, credit cards, and any financial forms we're asked country of birth. When we state the US, we have to sign more forms to agree with sharing our financials with the US. If we don't sign the forms, we can’t access financials. Crazy. Some older Americans here spent the money to end their citizenship in the US. I couldn't do that. As messed up as the US government is, it's still home to me.
I can't remember if it was Bush or Obama, but one of them decided to introduce taxing expats. 🤷🏼♀️
