Maybe Russia Was Serious About Threatening its Security

Ukrainians die because governments couldn't or wouldn't de-escalate tensions.

Expecting Russia to behave is absurd, diplomacy isn't a weakness, and if peace is the objective, the ever-expanding military-industrial complex and conflicts aren't helping. The US gained considerable responsibilities when it designated itself the "world's police" and established military bases globally. Hopefully, dismissing Russia is a good reason to endanger everyone's life and neglect nuclear war obligations.

Declaring, Russia started it, doesn't do anyone any good, and US military intervention leads us closer to nuclear war. Perhaps taking Putin's security concerns seriously and withdrawing NATO from Eastern Europe isn't a bad idea. Russia's resistance to the expansion hasn't changed, and strife escalated when Trump removed restrictions on short-range ballistic missiles in 2018.

Sadly, the shameful Iraq war wasn't a one-off, and the craving for blood continues. The bloodthirsty neoconservatives screaming for a fight must have forgotten the horrifying withdrawal from Afghanistan and the potential for nuclear proliferation. It's mindboggling we haven't figured out dropping bombs detonates ongoing explosions, or maybe sustaining the weapons market is the intention…
