Many Israelis are ashamed and have left the country because of government censorship, repression, and violence. When you dehumanize others, you lose your humanity.
Western governments ban peace and Palestinian protests to suppress dissent because the propaganda and censorship aren't working. The intense repression may increase as governments attempt to maintain the narrative, but the world will not forget this. The US lectured nations about human rights and democracy for decades yet supports genocide in Armenia and Gaza.
The EU secured energy resources from Azerbaijan because Russia is the devil (eye roll), yet Azerbaijan genocides Armenians. The US and the UK support Israel to expand their reach in West Asia and the Suez Canal, which Egypt controls. Undoubtedly, there are countless geopolitical reasons, but democracy and human rights aren't two of them. Surprise!
I have tickets to see Chic, Chaka Khan, and Nile Rodgers, but I can't take my mind off the suffering.
