Like Covid, we don't think about the people or environment we infect. Our detachment from labor and production enables us to disregard the countless lives and environmental destruction that produce our materials.

I assumed everyone felt the perpetual feeling of guilt and shame because civilization is built on exploitation, but I'm naive. People justify and ignore the sacrifices because they believe this is as good as it gets and suffering would be worse under an alternative system.

Everyone wants to rule the world, and it's us or them, so it should be us because we're ethical tyrants.

We believe in evil because we insist that's all there is, and I'm ashamed to be a human.
