Koonin sounds like a neoliberalist who refuses reality and wishes everyone else would just go back to work so he can continue exploiting the land and workers in peace.

Most governments provide funding for climate scientist jobs, but Koonin's don't like to hear forever growth is impossible so we just ignore the reports. Why would Koonin's worry about the climate? The poor endure the effects first and then it trickles up, but when the low-cost labor dies of famine or pollutants, Koonin will miss us! Who will serve him and do his laundry?
