In the early 1900s, revolts against fuedalism had already occured throughout the world, yet Russians remained peasants until they overthrew the Tsar in 1917. What the USSR did in such a short time is extraordinary, and the 20 million Soviets is how the allies beat the Nazis. Without them, Nazi Germany would have won the war, and the Soviets marched into Japan to force them to surrender too, but the US decided to test the Bombs anyway.

Stalin was a psycho, but we tend to omit everything else about the USSR, and we forget who assisted Yeltsin to power. American "economists" supported the Soviet and Russian government with transitioning to capitalism after the fall, yet the US' main-man was a drunk who gave the public's wealth to Russian aristocrats instead of American corporations, and this didn't sit well with the West.

Just thought I'd add in a bit about the history because it is important.
