I'm sure the Russian government told Russians Ukraine had weapons of mass destruction and needed to be liberated. If Russia waged war on the US, they'd claim the genocide committed on Native Americans, the incarceration of African Americans, the mass shootings, and censorship warrant rescuing Americans.

All governments justify invasions by dehumanizing an enemy and finding the narrative to fit their story. We aren't morally superior.

The aftermath of US invasions throughout the 21st century made every country worse off, and we don't view 20 years in Afghanistan as US oppressive regime. I'm sure they loved having us.
