I'm a citizen of Australia and the US, and the quality of life in Australia is way better. Privatizing healthcare forces medical providers to compete for patients. Let me repeat that, medical providers compete for patients. Even if a doctor doesn't feel ethical about writing prescriptions for a patient with a pharmaceutical addiction, she/he could feel pressured to write them to maintain profits, and that's only one reason privatizing health is bad idea.
