If NATO invades, Russia could attack any European country and the US, and it probably would. Serbia and numerous countries will likely side with Russia, and a war between the Global North/West versus the East/Global South will rage. That's the likely outcome.

Secondly, as you say, there's no justification for war, but why does China want Taiwan? The history of Taiwan and US intervention might be a good place to understand that fricken mess.
