Barcelona's food, wine, festivities, architecture, and outgoing society are vibrant and similar to Madrid. I stayed in Barcelona for three months in 2004, and tensions were high because the Madrid City bombing and the Iraq war infuriated the Spaniards. Barcelona openly demonstrated its discontent with international events and exposed the American whitewashing that shaped my understanding of the world.

Undoubtedly, a visit to Russia would further my knowledge of the world. What an adventure and journey!
