I went to college and my brother went to trade school, and I'm not saying college is a waste of time, but the material didn't teach me essential skills. My brother on the other hand always has a job that he's proud of and satisfied with (minus some coworkers). While I often can't figure out what exactly my job is, he produces a tangible product, and he makes a lot more money than I ever will.
Fortunately, I have a natural interest in woodworking, and I can do basic things. It is so satisfying to produce something from start to finish. I don't wonder why job satisfaction is so low for most office workers.
