I was just discussing American culture with an Aussie friend and stated the anti-authority public is the greatest hurdle, and lockdowns in the US are pointless if States are going to continue allowing travel. The federal government doesn't seem to be providing enough resources to the states to manage Covid and forcing businesses to shut without providing financial assistance is wrong.

If the federal government was providing a living wage to every American and offering better support for small to medium sized businesses, do you think more Americans would respect the orders? I've been wondering if funding would change the public's attitude, but it's difficult to determine. There will always be anti-authority figures but maybe less people would be angry if they were financially compensated. I obviously don't have the answers but it crosses my mind.
