I uncontrollably sobbed at the end of the movie because it seamlessly captured our sad reality. We're too busy arguing over insignificant issues to realize unification is the only way we can save ourselves. Our governments could "save the world," but they serve capitalists. Congress could pass legislation requiring businesses to fulfill sustainability goals, but we can't envision a world where profits aren't the bottom line.

I thought the movie depicted Americans perfectly and didn't notice the "us" against "them." A large portion of the Left responds to celebrity trends and social media campaigns. While the Right trusts their political party. Meanwhile, experts have to figure out how to reach society; the Left follows fads, and the Right must trust the person/party delivering information.

We have the solutions. Our governments must end capitalism's forever growth model and our endless consumption habits, but both political parties refuse to address the problems. Of course, we can make lifestyle changes, but the entire global economic structure needs reform, and I don't think the US will lead that transformation.

We need the social with the science to call it economics.
