I talk about this all the time! It's socially acceptable for women to have more hobbies than men, but capitalist culture perpetuates masculinity and building wealth. Women also experience this weird notion we must all be producing wealth, but it's not as severe. Why waste your time on anything that doesn't provide a monetary gain?

My dad had numerous hobbies, but capitalism has become more extreme. If men don't play sports there's not much else they're "allowed" to play. Along with other socio-economic factors, this contributes to isolation and higher suicide rates in men.

It's horrifically sad, and too many people don't understand capitalism's influence on society and individuals' mental health. It's not just an economic structure - it's a political and social system that impacts every part of life.

We all need to play more!
