I started thinking, maybe Americans hate their lives so much, they selfishly figure, why not nuke it all? Then, I realized we're too delusional to grasp reality because we live in hyperreality. Surely, some hero will save us at the last minute!
Well, if the world could vote the US off the planet, they would. When the US pulled out of the Anti-Ballistic Missile, Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces, and the Open Skies Treaties, and immediately began testing near Russia and China's borders, we once again, said FU to everyone.
The US started a nuclear arms race, and everyone was too busy fighting over identity politics to notice anything of real importance. Plus, Trump's withdrawal from Cold War agreements didn't align with the Putin's-lover narrative.
Rich cokeheads make decisions that impact every living thing on the planet, and we cheer them on, but there was a time when Americans thought independently of the rhetoric. A million Americans marched against nuclear weapons in the 80s and worldwide demonstrations calling for an end to the arms race resulted in de-escalation, but today, we're a thoughtless hive mind, accepting whatever our dictatorship government for the elites tells us.
At least a nuke arms race enables capitalism to continue growing because we're running out of markets - god forbid!
