I researched the relationship between wealth inequalities and environmental degradation. In societies with extreme inequalities (like the US), the greater the environmental degradation. The US is particularly interesting because the culture promotes materialism as a sign of success. The top 1% wealthiest are responsible for over half of the carbon emissions and natural resource consumption in the world, yet the poor are the most impacted by climate change.
