I read a hypothesis last year it was likely guano had found its way into humans or our food chain. Oh, ya. I know all about bats' ability to carry diseases and coronavirus had been detected in them in I think 2007 or so. Deforestration, shrinking habitats, and human activities are increasing the spread of diseases.

Deforestation is occurring at an alarming rate and in places where deforestation is high, diseases from mosquitoes are high. As habitats shrink from deforestation, primates are forced into high-density habitats, and diseases are spread quite easily. We know a warming planet will cause more diseases and more mosquitoes. In Los Angeles there weren't mosquitoes until recently.

Sure, we live on 3% of the landmass, but we impact 100% of the planet. Have a look at high deforestation and the relationship to diseases.
