I hear you.

US Americans (great term) only know what the media decides to show them. No one remembered Afghanistan existed until the media broadcasted US withdrawal, and we already forgot about it. US sanctions starve the nation, but the news informs the public when it suits a political agenda because we must believe in the US human rights, democracy loving persona.

Western mainstream media avoided informing the public of the US' and Russia's rising tensions prior to the "unprovoked" invasion, but foreign sources, geopolitical reports, and small articles in the middle of some newspapers provided details.

I don't have a TV or follow the mainstream media, but I know about Sudan, Armenia, Peru, and the other nightmares because I don't rely on the major news sites for information. They present what they want us to know, which isn't much.

Aside from immigration/refugees entering the Southern border, we don't hear a peep about Latin America unless the US is declaring a person who never ran for an election as president of oil-rich Venezuela.

What is news, and who decides has always boggled my mind, but US Americans are grossly uninformed about global events.
