I get get what you're saying, and for some, the US is still worth fighting for, but the problem is our government left us, and there's no peaceful way to bring them back.

Americans hadn't thought about Australia since Crocodile Dundee, yet the media states it's authoritarian because it chose to endure the hellish quarantine to save lives. Um. That just sounds patriotic or at least, humane.
