I disagree. Every war since WWII secured capitalism, and Putin is doing the same now. The US helped by giving him an excuse to invade Ukraine (we'll never know if NATO concerns we're legit), but the US poured billions into Ukrainian elections and made no secrecy about their preferred Ukrainian politicians.
If we look at the events since the 90s, there were numerous moments the US could have improved relationships with Russia, but keeping Russia and China (countries capable of economically challenging the US) at bay has been the goal.
I wish I could believe the US has the world's best intentions, but foreign policy and personal experience prove otherwise. While working in Latin America, I learned way too much about the US, and I can't unlearn it. It breaks my heart we put more resources into developing weapons and military than establishing stability.
