I completely understand your point, and I think I mistook your politeness. Native English-speaking Americans are the most arrogant English speakers by far. I am so bad at saying things in a nice way, but I realize you're getting at what I call American superiority.

Most native English speakers (I am one) are lazy, but Americans are by far the rudest. Australians (mostly just the ones who travel), Brits, Irish, etc, are way more exposed and/or unpretentious, but mainstream American culture has an "I'm the greatest and everything revolves around me" attitude.

I grew up in Los Angeles and I forget Spanish isn't a part of most American's daily life. I live in Australia right now and miss hearing languages. There are a lot of languages spoken in the US in comparison to Australia. My original comment is from an American living in Australia view, but I agree with you.

The lack of interest Americans have in other countries is bizarre. I'll never understand it. The US is not the center of the world - it's just a loud bully. It's so embarrassing to see the bad Americans overseas - I don't wonder why most of the world dislikes us.
