I am so thankful I took classes with age, gender, ethnicity, and nationality diversity among students and teachers. I'll never forget arguing for marriage equality in the mid-2000s, and I wonder if the conservative students have changed their stance. How do people learn if they aren't critically thinking about their position?
We're becoming so isolated, and I hate it. Recently, I had a discussion with a self-titled conservative, and I didn't know he was a conservative until after the conversation, but it didn't matter. We discussed various issues, and it was refreshing to engage with someone who thought about his views and openly shared them. I don't know if it's identity politics or what, but people with a different view shouldn't be ostracized. How do we learn from each other if we aren't speaking to each other?
