Ha. I was thinking about you. Happy New Year, and good to hear from you.

Undoubtedly, there are US historians who see the world through another lens, and I learned a more accurate version of history at a university in SF. However, patriotism underpins our learning inside and outside of the classroom.

You were fortunate to have a teacher who presented another view, but I wonder how many students only heard one side. Perhaps, government jargon influences the narrative, reshaping our perception.

For example, many Americans fear socialism and communism, yet we don't know much about them. Undoubtedly, we learned this from our government and the public, but we don't learn about them in school.

I found an American political scientist and historian who studies US imperialism, but I doubt his research will be in our curriculum.

Thanks, John.

We need the social with the science to call it economics.
