Everyone deserves stable security, including Russians. Undoubtedly, there are numerous reasons for the horrific war, but I wonder how Russians feel about enemy bases endlessly encroaching on Russian borders.
Ideally, a legitimate, unbiased foreign agency mediates a resolution and hosts a referendum for those living in the disputed regions. Western NGOs uncovered Crimea's desire to remain under the Russian Federation, yet the Ukrainian government refused to accept the results.
Russia attempted to negotiate security concerns, which Western media reported until December 2021, but NATO and the US denied Russia's demands. Why wouldn't they consider these terms if peace is NATO's objective?
Perhaps NATO lacks diplomacy skills because it's a military alliance that only intervenes when violence ignites, which is problematic if the objective is to avoid wars.
Ukraine depends on the West to sustain the war, which is a vulnerable position. It can't make independent decisions when relying on foreign weapons and finance.
