Cancelled. She's been cancelled. If that's not a considered a form of silencing, our definitions vary, but that's fine. Everyone has different views and opinions. People don't have to tolerate her transphobia and they don't have to listen to her. There are plenty of people who perpetuate misleading, dangerous news, and there's plenty of reasons to regulate disinformation in the media, but Rowling is not Tucker Carlson or Rachel Maddow providing "news".

Trans endure hell from society. There's no denying that. Rowling's Tweet: “I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth" addressed using people instead of women who menstruate. According to Rowling, the use of people instead of women, has the capability to hinder conversations for women's (all of them) rights.

The media does what it does, and generated a frenzy. Discussing Rowling's beliefs distract feminism from moving forward - together. While some believe pronouns further add to gender discrimination others believe we should state our sex in our email signatures, documents, etc. At the bottom of all of it, feminists want the same things.

In my opinion, choose a pronoun if you want one, but I don't want to. I just want to be Corinne. I don't want to be associated by my gender, but my work is pressuring me to choose one. I feel my gender is irrelevant because I just want to be known for me. It bothers me when I hear statements about women in sports like, "Rapinoe is one of the best women's soccer players." I rather hear, "Rapinoe is among the best soccer players," but this is just my opinion.

Furthermore, policing each other is harmful for all of us, but open discussions help us.
