Our governments polluted the world to build straw hut economies that crumble from the slightest breeze and destroy lives yet enrich a minority.

Europe relies on US LNG imports that generate higher emissions than Russia's piped gas (due to transportation and increased fracking), prices, environmental destruction, and utter dependency on the US.

The US isn't a more ethical trading partner/country than Russia because of power imbalances facilitating the US to leverage its dominance. For example, if European governments discontinue funding US weapon manufactures that support the war, the US could threaten to withhold LNG imports.

Russia never had that kind of power over Europe, but hopefully, this crisis motivates a quicker transition to clean energy and reduces concentrated power.
